Overview
No child is the same - we have a programme that matches their experience and the amount of time they want to spend playing - from weekly fun clubs to intensive courses. Individual lessons are also available and are a great way of fast tracking a players development.
Those taking the first step can take part in activity days and drop in sessions, while those wanting to make more of a commitment can also join development or performance squads. Juniors work on all the abilities required to become a good player, not only racket technique, but agility, flexibility, fitness, co-ordination and mental skills.
 In Detail
The Mini Tennis Programme at Southdown Tennis Academy provides sessions for children from the age of 3 to 11. The ages below are provided as a guide to the levels, however, experience will also be taken into account when selecting the appropriate course. There is a programme of term time squads & competition for those who want to take their tennis more seriously. Squad players receive regular feedback reports to help keep parents updated on their child's progress.
Term Time Squads - whole term is payable in advance
Red £6.75 or £5.25 for members per hour, Orange, Green and Turbo £8.25 or £6.75 for members per hourly session
Competition - See Junior Competition
 Red
These squads are for players aged 4 - 8 or those progressing from the Diddy Tennis Drop in. These groups are designed for those wanting to make a concerted effort at improving their game, working on co-ordination skills and developing the basic tennis shots on small courts with low-bouncing balls.
Orange
For players aged 8-10 or those progressing from Red. Players continue to develop their FUNdamental tennis skills, and work on improving their rallying and serving using medium bounce balls on a 3/4 court and simple scoring methods.
Green
For improvers aged 9-12 or those progressing from Orange, Green provides the transition from the smaller Orange court to full court tennis. The aim is to get players to serve and rally from the baseline and use full tennis scoring. More volleying skills are taught during these sessions.
Turbo Tennis
For improvers aged 11+ or those progressing from Green, Turbo provides the final stage between junior and senior club tennis. The aim is to get players to serve and rally from the baseline with full ball and to integrate them into the adult club set up.
