Junior Competition

All children learn from playing. Playing in appropriate competition has many benefits for junior players. Not only do children learn about playing better tennis, but fun, regular, competition helps to develop many valuable life skills such as:

Concentration
Determination
Working as a team
Learning to deal with disappointment
Fair Play and Sportsmanship

We have an annual programme of tournaments (some for our club players only and some open events where players from other clubs are invited) and run a prize system called 'match points' for all players taking part in competition.

Calendar of events

We are hosting many events during winter 2008/9 for mini tennis. Please go to the downloads page for competition dates, prices and entry forms.

'Match Points'

Every player who plays in a competition receives a match points ticket. At the end of each term there is a raffle held from all the match point tickets that have been awarded. Keep hold of all the tickets you receive throughout the term as one of your tickets may be drawn out to win a prize. The more tickets you get the better chance of an end of term prize! The winning tickets will be shown here at the end of the term.

Match Points allocated:

Playing in a competition at Southdown Club 1 point
Winning a competition at Southdown Club 3 points
Playing in a competition at another venue 10 points
Winning a competition at another venue 20 points
